LIXIL Named to Dow Jones Sustainability World Index for Fourth Consecutive Year

Tokyo – LIXIL Corporation (“LIXIL”, TSE Code: 5938), maker of pioneering water and housing products, announced its inclusion in the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (DJSI World) for the fourth consecutive year and the DJSI Asia Pacific Index for the sixth consecutive year for its sustainability performance.

The Dow Jones Sustainability Indices, managed by S&P Global in the United States, evaluates the sustainability of the world's leading companies based on environmental, social and governance (ESG) criteria.  The DJSI World is comprised only of companies that rank within the top 10% of their industries. This year, LIXIL was selected as one of the 332 companies worldwide, of which 36 are Japanese companies.

Engaging in dialogue and building on relationships with key stakeholders, the Corporate Sustainability Assessment by S&P Global recognized LIXIL for its enforced initiatives and transparency of ESG related disclosures. The company received a full score for its Environmental Reporting, Social Reporting, and Corporate Citizenship & Philanthropy. It also received the highest scores within the industry in Business Ethics, Environmental Policy & Management Systems, Human Capital Development, and Occupational Health & Safety1.

Some of the LIXIL’s ESG initiatives for FYE March 2022 include:
・Developed an updated framework as well as specified functions for the company’s CR Committee to ensure the Board of Directors' oversight and responsibility for sustainability-related issues, in line with the revision of the Corporate Governance Code in Japan
・Identified and assessed environmental risks and opportunities, strengthened climate change related disclosures based on the recommendations of the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD)
・Updated its Human Rights Principles and conducted a company-wide human rights risk assessment to identify and mitigate human rights risks and promote better understanding of human rights
Expanded employee-driven initiatives to build an inclusive corporate culture, including the launch of a global Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) sponsored by executive officers.
