LIXIL Corporation (“LIXIL”) and UNICEF today released the 2025–2026 Impact Update for their “Make a Splash!” partnership.
This global shared-value partnership advances initiatives strengthening access to safe sanitation and hygiene for underserved communities by building self-sustaining local sanitation markets. To date, the partnership has supported almost 20 million people.
The latest report outlines progress made in the 12 months to March 2026 across six focus countries: Ethiopia, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Nigeria, and Tanzania, and achieved following results:
Direct Sanitation Access: 1.3 million people gained new direct access to at least basic sanitation.
Indirect Systems Reach: 1.8 million people benefited indirectly through systems-strengthening activities.
Basic Handwashing Access: 25,000 people gained access to basic handwashing services.
As a key highlight of this year's progress, direct access to basic sanitation rose to 1.3 million people from 727,000 the previous year. The increase was driven by a market-based approach through the "five dimensions of market strengthening," including building supply chains and creating demands.
