LIXIL has been listed for all six ESG indices adopted by the Government Pension Investment Fund (GPIF) of Japan
Tokyo – LIXIL Corporation (“LIXIL”, TSE Code: 5938), maker of pioneering water and housing products, has been included in all ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) indices adopted by the Government Pension Investment Fund (GPIF) of Japan.
As of July 2023, the GPIF adopts the following six ESG indices:
FTSE Blossom Japan Index1
Designed by FTSE Russell, a global index provider based in the UK, FTSE Blossom Japan Index Series incorporates Japanese companies that demonstrate excellent performance in ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) practices. LIXIL has been included in FTSE Blossom Japan Index for six consecutive years.
FTSE Blossom Japan Sector Relative Index1
A newly established index designed by FTSE Russell to promote ESG sector initiatives and the transition to a low-carbon society among Japanese companies. LIXIL has been selected for two consecutive years since the launch of this index in 2022.
MSCI Japan ESG Select Leaders Index2
The MSCI Japan ESG Select Leaders Index consists of companies from among the Japanese stocks by market capitalization that have relatively superior ESG ratings. LIXIL has been included in the index series since 2022.
MSCI Empowering Women Index (WIN）2
MSCI Empowering Women Index highlights companies that are better positioned to withstand talent shortages and generate more sustainable performance with reduced risk through the promoting and maintaining of higher gender diversity in the workforce. LIXIL has been selected in the index for six consecutive years.
S&P/JPX Carbon Efficient Index
The S&P/JPX Carbon Efficient is designed to measure the performance of companies in the Tokyo Stock Price Index (TOPIX), while overweighting or underweighting those companies that have lower or higher levels of carbon emissions per unit of revenue. LIXIL has been selected as part of this index series for six consecutive years.
Morningstar Japan ex-REIT Gender Diversity Tilt Index3
The Morningstar Japan ex-REIT Gender Diversity Tilt Index is designed to emphasize companies in the Japanese market that have strong gender diversity policies embedded in their corporate culture and that ensure equal opportunities to employees, irrespective of their gender. GPIF has been adopting this index since 2023. LIXIL has been selected as a constituent of the highest tier of Group 1 among five groups according to scores.
In addition to being included in the ESG indices adopted by GPIF, LIXIL has been selected for four consecutive years in the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index4, for six consecutive years in the Dow Jones Sustainability Asia Pacific Index4, and for seven consecutive years in the FTSE4Good Index Series5. LIXIL has also obtained the highest "AAA" rating in the MSCI ESG Rating as of February 2023.
