Publishing its FYE2025 Progress Update, LIXIL Corporation (“LIXIL"), maker of pioneering water and housing products, announced the latest progress on its global sanitation and hygiene commitment—one of the strategic pillars of its Impact Strategy. As of the close of Fiscal Year Ending March 2025 (FYE2025), LIXIL’s initiatives have reached a cumulative total of approximately 82 million people, with nearly 14 million people reached in the last fiscal year alone.

LIXIL’s ambitious target is to improve sanitation and hygiene for 100 million people around the world by 2025. Each year, the company is committed to transparently communicating its progress, and this year’s update features a key refinement in its impact methodology to more accurately capture diverse use cases.

A significant update this year is the introduction of a "Time-Bound, High-Use Public Facilities" sub-category. This enhancement allows for the accounting of short-term, high-traffic scenarios, such as religious festivals and disaster response deployments, which are fundamentally different from long-term household installations. For example, partner reporting from the 45-days duration of Kumbh Mela festival in India revealed that each toilet served approximately 1,000 unique individuals. This refined approach more precisely accounts for the impact in these settings, which contributed approximately 8 million of the 82 million people reached.

The full FYE2025 Progress Update, which includes a detailed explanation of this methodology and its calculations, can be accessed here.
