LIXIL recently crossed a historic milestone: improving sanitation and hygiene for over 100 million people globally, officially reaching 103 million by December 2025. While this number is a monumental achievement, true global impact is fundamentally built one action, one installation, and one household at a time. To understand the scale of what we've accomplished, we have to look at the individual lives driving this change on the ground.
In our new short film, we invite you to step into the world of Esther Kasina, a SATO mason and entrepreneur in Kenya. Growing up in a village without toilets, Esther witnessed firsthand how poor sanitation spread disease and kept children out of school. Today, she is rewriting that narrative for her own two children and her entire community. By marketing, selling, and installing affordable, easy-to-clean SATO products, Esther has built a thriving business that is actively saving lives, restoring dignity, and bringing happiness to local families.
Esther’s journey reminds us that reaching 103 million people is a powerful transition point, not a finish line. While it took a decade to reach our first 100 million lives, we are accelerating our pace to meet the urgency of the global sanitation crisis. As part of our evolved mission toward universal access to improved sanitation and hygiene, we are now committed to reaching our next 100 million people by FYE2031. Watch the two-minute video below to experience Esther's story and see how individual actions compound into measurable global progress.
