TOKYO/BIELEFELD, LIXIL Corporation ("LIXIL"), maker of pioneering water and housing products, and Schueco International KG ("Schueco"), a provider of aluminum sashes and curtain walls that combine excellent thermal insulation performance and design, announced an agreement to integrate LIXIL's PremiAL series into Schueco's low-carbon profiles, set to launch in Southeast Asia.

Schueco, headquartered in Germany, offers highly insulated aluminum windows, curtain walls and other products that meet the stringent building requirements across Europe. Committed to sustainability, Schueco offers a range of low-carbon aluminum profiles in Europe, adhering to its strict CO₂ emission standards. However, in Southeast Asia, with its burgeoning construction market and increasing demand for sustainable building materials, currently faces limited availability of CO₂-reduced aluminum due to a shortage of compliant suppliers. Recognizing the significant potential of this promising region, Schueco is keen to expand its business footprint, and LIXIL will be supporting this strategic expansion.

LIXIL's PremiAL series aligns with Schueco’s "Low Carbon Profiles" standard, positioning LIXIL as the first local supplier of Schueco’s carbon-efficient building materials in Southeast Asia. With 25 years of experience in aluminum recycling, LIXIL introduced PremiAL R70 (which uses 70% recycled aluminum) in 2022, followed by the 2023 launch of PremiAL R100, Japan's first low-carbon aluminum building material made from 100% recycled aluminum. This new partnership provides Schueco with the opportunity to offer CO₂-reduced aluminum products in both Europe and Southeast Asia, addressing the growing global demand for decarbonized profiles.

This collaboration also presents a valuable opportunity for LIXIL to strengthen its presence in the Southeast Asian market by combining the strengths of both companies. LIXIL will provide Schueco with its PremiAL series, produced at LIXIL's plants in Thailand and Vietnam. By expanding the sales of CO₂-reduced aluminum profiles in Southeast Asia, LIXIL and Schueco are committed to contributing to decarbonization and fostering  a more sustainable society.

Naoki Ikegami, General Manager of the Aluminum Materials Division at LIXIL Housing Technology, commented, “This collaboration not only enhances our presence in the competitive market but also underscores our commitment to environmental sustainability. With the global need to reduce CO₂ emissions throughout the supply chain, our PremiAL series has garnered significant attention. By combining the core competencies of LIXIL and Schueco, we can expand our reach in Southeast Asia and pave the way for a more sustainable future.”

Ian Lord, Regional Director for Southeast Asia, Japan, South Korea and Oceana, Metal Division of Schueco, stated, “Partnering with LIXIL allows us to offer CO₂-reduced aluminum building products in Southeast Asian markets, a significant step towards promoting global decarbonization and achieving our climate target of Net Zero by 2040.

    Note to editors
LIXIL’s environmental strategy, declared in our Environmental Vision 2050, aims to realize “Zero Carbon and Circular Living.” The expansion of PremiAL, its low-carbon aluminum building material, further demonstrates the company’s commitment to “Promoting Circular Economy,” a key focus area within this vision,  which includes the mid-term target to use 100% recycled aluminum by FYE 2031.
