Serendipitous Connection with LIXIL—with its purpose and the LIXIL Behaviors

When I was looking to change careers and saw LIXIL’s booth at a job fair, I felt an instant connection. My father is a highly-skilled union plumber back home in Boston, and growing up, I enjoyed helping him in his work. During the job fair and in my interviews, I was able to convey this interest; my admiration and passion for the company and its purpose was really well received. Since joining, my leaders and colleagues have been a huge help to my growth as I continue to “Experiment and Learn” every day. This also happens to be the LIXIL Behavior that resonates with me the most!

An Environment That Supports Curiosity, New Ideas, and Impact Luis-ET

I have found that our way of working at LIXIL is very favorable towards developing novel ideas and honing one’s skills. In my case, I refined how we share some of our existing initiatives such as LIXIL Community Day, as well as revamped some others like our internal recruitment site. I used AppSheet as a tool to do this, using my coding knowledge to improve the UX/UI and collaborated with our HR Digital members to make sure it matched our needs. Being able to test my prototypes and get feedback from leaders  made me realize how much tangible impact matters to me. I was also pleasantly surprised at how something like coding that I had learned as a hobby could be really useful at work! When I see the difference I make through my work, I feel satisfied and motivated to do even better!

As someone who is part of an ethnic minority, I have noticed how welcoming our workplace is. We have a lot of ERGs with a strong presence both on our internal social media and in office. I see invitations for their events and various content published by them. One such event that I often attend is the Safe Space Day that is organized monthly by the LGBTQ+ ERG. These events help me show my support for inclusivity, as well as meet and interact with various colleagues.

Contributing Towards A Home for Everyone

I feel LIXIL’s goal of “A Home for Everyone” is really visible in the values we share and ways in which we show up for one another. Earlier this month, I did a presentation for our Multi-Cultural ERG Month, sharing about my Puerto Rican and Guatemalan heritage and food. It was an incredible experience for me because I like sharing my story with others. But equally enjoyable was the chance to see how different people joined the event and shared their own stories as well! Being a part of LIXIL makes me feel the most seen and heard, and I love that we can share our experiences and learn from each other. It really feels like it is “A Home for Everyone” that is inclusive for all.
